This is the expanded version of something I put up as a status on Facebook today. It will become a part of a new chapter in my new novel called tentatively ‘The Poet.’——————–
We live in interesting times… so they say. So let us take life by its scrawny neck and live for today. Grab your coat, take my hand and let us escape. I have nothing and so I am free. And as I am free I have everything. I have the joy of a new life beginning, of new experiences to banish old sad memories. There is so much love within me to give. So much knowledge to share and so many sweet dreams once again to experience.
I have left negativity behind me, no more will I hide from life. I have such beautiful poetry within my soul and within my mind. Words have started to emerge from a stultified imagination that seeks rebirth as surely as sunshine after a rainy day.
How could I have let the words die within me, how could I forget how to laugh? How could I forget that life is a journey and not a chore? But I did forget. I let life become a burden? How could I let life’s sense of schadenfreude beat me down.
And where do I go from here? What is my destination? Do I even want to reach a destination? I will seek the pleasure of the journey. Reaching a destination is impossible, unthinkable because then the journey will be over. The joy is in the escape and in the seeking. And so I will relish these interesting times. Your coat is over there. Here’s my hand. Let’s go….
