I don’t often put YouTube videos up but this one is kind of fascinating. I bet it smells nice and minty too. 🙂

NaPoWriMo 2013 day 17 and today’s (totally optional) prompt was the following:-
Early on in the month, I asked you to write a valediction — a poem of farewell. Today, let’s try the opposite, and write poems of greeting. There’s lots of things you could greet. The spring? Your new stapler? A favorite classmate? An addition to the menu at your local cafe? The subject’s up to you — now get out there and say “hello!”
So here we go with my Welcome poem….. Enjoy.
WELCOME
Today I gained a new friend
To replace an old one sadly missed
Bienvenue new buddy. Wilkommen.
Loved but never kissed.
…..
My old friend?
Well I left her all alone
Two years ago today
No room for her in my life then
I know … it’s terrible to say
She bought such colour to my life
Through her I pictured my dreams
She helped me see life … differently
In blues and reds … and greens
…..
I used to love to take her out
Just her and me alone
I’d talk to her as we worked
Of hues; of colours, of tone
I never knew how much I’d missed her
Until my trip today
And I found my new friend.
Although I had to pay.
…..
Seventeen pounds she cost me
Really a good deal
I couldn’t wait to get her home
So I could cop a feel
For all the pleasure I will get
I thank her in advance
I love my new painting set
My newly found romance.

Some of my old water colours. I painted these back in the 1990s. I used the kids water colour set and mostly the backs of advertising flyers. I am not a brilliant artist but I do enjoy getting engrossed in it so much.
I’m not a great painter but I do enjoy daubing the odd watercolour. So here goes with one I finished tonight and one I started and finished tonight.
The first one is a view from the window of a cottage we stayed at last Christmas in Lavenham Suffolk. The second is my lovely Raven looking out over Lake Erie in Cleveland back in March.
