Today is another day where I have no enthusiasm for the prompt and so again I have raided my old files. This was from 2010 and about three quarters done. Now it is revamped, altered and finished.
Enjoy.
I’ve tasted the salt of your tears
Been there when you didn’t want me.
Held you when sleep wouldn’t come
And everything hurt
Touched you and whispered in nights silence
Kissed you in morning brightness
Welcomed you home. Said goodbye. Said hello
When you thought you were alone.
But you never were.
My arms were always there.
My kisses are ever for your sadness
Your need for love and dreams
And the world is always before us
It’s unfairness and sour unkindness
It’s dislike of us
Because … just because we are
We dared to be alive … and in love.
We chose each other… we found our touchstone
Our chalice. Our reckoning.
Of such love for each other
And when we were far apart. Listening to songs of stars and tears
Thinking of wine and roses
Thinking of your taste
Nights alone and far far away
Living endless fears
Feeling your hands
And kisses when you thought I slept
On briefly known pillows
In such happiness.
