My second entry for NaPoWriMo 2013 and I have found a use for that large file on my laptop entitled Unfinished Stuff. The first few lines are actually from 2009. The rest is from today. The small town mentioned could be any one of many, not only in the UK, but it was written with Haverhill, Suffolk in mind… Enjoy.
SMALL TOWN MIND
Living in a small town
Avoiding that small-town mind. It’s hard
People know you don’t fit
And so do you
I have such thoughts but they find no home
In this town.
And do thoughts have a home?
Not just in my mind … my heart?
I write and thoughts become print
Emotion through a key pad
Sadness on a page … from my soul.
And they find eternity in my eyes
They live and gain form
As small flutterings of wings on wind
Released for all forever.
But not in this small town.
